Cavity Wall Insulation
If your home was built from the 1930's onwards the chances are that external walls are made from two layers with a gap between each layer. This is commonly known as a cavity wall.
So why should you insulate the cavity between each wall?
Insulating the cavity helps keep the heat in your home exactly where you need it, which is indoors.
Most un-insulated cavity walls, particularly in earlier properties, lose around 33% of the household heat through the un-insulated external walls. It therefore makes practical and financial sense to insulate the cavity and as a rule of thumb this will usually pay for its self over a two year period in energy savings.
You can often get grants to assist with the cost of having cavity wall insulation installed by an authorised registered installer.
